Extended Biography
Born in Buenos Aires on May 8, 1932, she lived and worked between Argentina and Canada. A Superior Professor of Sculpture, she developed a wide-ranging artistic practice alternating throughout her career between sculpture, painting, drawing, printmaking, industrial design, objects, installations, multimedia art, video, and writing. Since 1964, with her incorporation into the Instituto Di Tella, she has been an active participant in multimedia visual arts. She was one of the founders of conceptual and political art trends in Argentina during the 1960s and produced numerous videos.
Her work achieved international recognition in 2006 at La Scoperta del Corpo Elettronico. Arte e video negli anni ’70 in Turin, Italy, for Tiempo de Descuento (1978), considered the first Argentine video artwork. She held a significant teaching career as Professor of Multimedia in both undergraduate and postgraduate programs at IUNA. As a researcher with CONICET, she directed multiple projects on “art in public space” and “net.art.”
In 2004, the Espigas Foundation published her bilingual book Projects on the Discourse of Myself, about the projects she presented to the Instituto Di Tella in the 1960s. That same year, she was awarded the John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship to further her research. She lectured and conducted seminars at various national and international conferences and round tables, including events at MALBA, the Faculty of Fine Arts in La Plata, and the Faculty of San Carlos in Valencia, Spain, on topics of art, politics, and public space. During her exhibitions in Canada, she also taught courses at the Faculty of Arts in Ottawa, New Brunswick, and Concordia University in Montreal.
She published numerous essays, including studies on the Rorschach test plates, and on Marcel Duchamp and Macedonio Fernández. Since 1996, she wrote extensively on art and technology, a central theme in her multimedia artistic career. She served as jury member in teaching competitions at major Art Faculties in Tucumán, Rosario, and Córdoba, and also worked as curator at the Museum of Modern Art of Buenos Aires, in Exercises by Ricardo Carreira.
Her works are included in important national and international museums and private collections. Among her distinctions are the First Painting Prize from the Fortabat Foundation, the Multimedia Prize from Faena Art District, the Guggenheim Fellowship (2004), and the Installations Prize at the 5th International Art Biennale of Cairo (1994).
She has developed a significant international presence with Henrique Faria Fine Art Gallery, in exhibitions such as Volta 5, arteBA, Pinta New York, ARCO Madrid, and Art Brussels in 2009; Pinta London in 2010; New Conceptualisms and a critically acclaimed show in New York. In 2011, she presented a solo project at ARCO Madrid.
At the time, she was preparing a book on Minimalism to be published by MNBA Neuquén, as well as an anthology of her works to accompany her retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art of Buenos Aires.

The red side, Scorching (univocal message), contained the amorous breathing of a couple. It was presented on two turntables with headphones, to be listened to in front of a sand track at the Instituto Di Tella, where the artist imprinted her body and that of her partner (body art), leaving a trace in the sand.

The line continued with photoelectric cells producing sound when activated by the audience. For two years it was a commercial and critical success; humorist Landrú turned it into an indispensable prop for his character “Sir Jonás, the executive” in Tía Vicenta. The egg, the descriptive card, and the packaging formed a satirical take on certain conceptual art trends.
